Hidden leaks, found

North & Home Plumbing finds hidden water leaks in walls, floors, slabs and yards across Brisbane’s inner east, using non-invasive equipment before any digging or cutting.

How do I know if I have a hidden leak?

Signs of a hidden leak include a water bill that has gone up without explanation, the water meter moving when every tap is off, damp or stained walls and ceilings, lifting floorboards, warm patches on a slab floor, or a wet area in the yard that never dries.

Leak detection uses thermal imaging cameras, acoustic listening equipment and pressure tests to narrow down where the leak is, so only a small area needs to be opened. Once found, the leak is repaired and the line is tested again.

What to expect

  1. 01

    Meter test

We check whether water is being lost and which part of the system is losing it.

  2. 02

    Locate

Thermal imaging, acoustic listening and pressure tests narrow down the leak.

  3. 03

    Report

You get the location, photos and a fixed price for the repair.

  4. 04

    Repair and retest

We fix the leak, retest the line and confirm the meter has stopped moving.

What should I do after a leak is repaired?

Let damp walls and floors dry out with good airflow, and keep an eye on stains for any growth. Read your water meter once a week for a month to confirm usage has settled. Your insurer may need our leak report, so keep a copy.

Common questions

Turn off every tap and appliance, note the meter reading, and check again after an hour without using water. If the number has moved, there is likely a leak and North & Home Plumbing can locate it.
